History

(From Blizzard's site)
The Molten Core lies at the very bottom of Blackrock Depths. It is the heart of Blackrock Mountain and the exact spot where, long ago in a desperate bid to turn the tide of the dwarven civil war, Emperor Thaurissan summoned the elemental Firelord, Ragnaros, into the world. Though the fire lord is incapable of straying far from the blazing Core, it is believed that his elemental minions command the Dark Iron dwarves, who are in the midst of creating armies out of living stone. The burning lake where Ragnaros lies sleeping acts as a rift connecting to the plane of fire, allowing the malicious elementals to pass through. Chief among Ragnaros' agents is Majordomo Executus - for this cunning elemental is the only one capable of calling the Firelord from his slumber.

Attunement

One must be level 55 and have completed the quest "Attunement to the Core" given by Lothos Riftwaker at the bottom of Blackrock Depths.

Strategy

One tool that will help everyone in the raid is CT_RaidAssist. This is an addon that will allow assisting and the fights to be done much easier. It can be found here.

2 Tank will be assigned one as Main Tank(MT) one as Off Tank(OT) for the night. One hunter will be assigned to pull and 1 rogue as the Main Assist(MA). The MT will tank the majority of the mobs as well as the bosses. The OT will back up the MT. If multiple mobs are pulled the OT's mob is killed first.

The hunter calls the inc pull and the tanks get thier target. The MA will call for the attack and the raid is to then assist him/her and attack that target. When the mob is at 15% the Puller goes to get the next target. By time it gets to the raid the first mob should be dead if not, the OT gets on the new mob and the carnage insues. If things are fast enough most trash will be leap frogged tanked by the MT and OT.

  • Warriors
    • Main Tank and Off Tank
      • Know the strategy for each mob and boss
      • Wear your shield and 1h weapon at all times
      • Wear the proper gear for mobs and bosses
      • Tank (strapping your priest to your shield helps)
      • Have 5/5 Defiance in prot (yes this means at least 15 points in prot)
    • Others
      • If not assigned a mob to tank (guard on Lucifron or Gehennas or Core Hound Pack) wear DPS and do DPS
      • 1 warrior should put Thunder Clap on every mob/boss being attacked.
  • Paladin
    • 1 Paladin will want to make sure judgement of wisdom is on the mob at all times.
    • A Paladin will "bubble pull" every boss.
  • Hunter
    • Puller
      • Pull the mobs for the raid. Try to keep a mob in camp at all times. The Main tank and Off Tank should constantly be in battle unless pulling Molten Giants, Molten Destroyers, a boss, or waiting for a patrol.
  • Rogue
    • Main Assist
      • Call the assists when the mob has 3 sunders. Everyone in the raid should be assisting you the entire raid.
  • Priest
    • Main Tank Priest/Off Tank Priest
      • Keep the Main tank/Off Tank up as top priority
      • Keep Main tank/Off tank group up as secondary
      • Ignore everyone else (you will be busy enough esp strapped to the warriors shield)
  • Warlock
    • Keep imp out for most of the battles, esp if in MT or OT group.
  • Mage

Trash Mobs
